About Us
“I-Love-TKD” – A group of taekwondo enthusiasts including, but not exclusive to Hayley Storey and Garry Carpenter.
The aim is to promote the development of taekwondo in New Zealand by hosting grass roots “non-competitive” tournaments throughout the country.
“I-Love-TKD” is working alongside Clubs throughout New Zealand to assist in hosting a Taekwondo event in their community.
“I-Love-TKD extends an invitation to our Para Community athletes to take part in our competitions.
Let’s just do it.
Competition nature:
This tournament is for new-comers and beginners who have done 3 or less tournaments in sparring only – Poomsae has no restrictions. Those who are tournament “specialists” are asked to act as Referees, Judges and Coaches. For the specialists, it is time for you to give back to your sport-Club.
Poomsae and Kyorugi/Sparring will be as a single match. Poomsae will be competed for by having both players taking the mat at the same time and performing their Poomsae at the same time. Judges will select which Poomsae they liked the most, deciding the winner in this manner.
Kyorugi/Sparring will be played in the normal manner, best-of-three-rounds
Everyone one gets a medal. Due to the nature of the competition, every match (Poomsae and Sparring) is a FINAL, so winning player gets GOLD, 2nd player gets SILVER.
LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF COMPETITORS
The tournament will be limited to 160 competitors.
- Kyorugi matches: Players will be paired on a Gender, Age, Size, Belt Rank basis as best as possible.
- Poomsae matches: Players will be paired on a Gender, Age, Belt Rank basis as best as possible.

- Any further “administering of overtly strong kicking techniques” whilst the point differential is 12 points or more may lead to the Centre Referee disqualifying the Player for “Unsportsman Like Behaviour”
